The Rules and General Principles of Selecting Silane Coupling Agents

Pre-selected organosilane coupling agents may follow the following criteria


1. Ethylene compilation, epoxy group and methyl propylene oxysilane coupling agent can be selected for unsaturated polyvinegar.


2. Epoxy resin should be selected as epoxy or amino organosilane coupling agent.


3. Amino or basic organic silane coupling agent should be selected for phenolic resin.


4. Vinyl organosilane coupling agent is suitable for olefin polymers.


5. Sulphur vulcanized rubber should be selected as organic silane coupling agent.


General Principles for Selection of Silane Coupling Agents
The composition of the material and its sensitivity to silane coupling agent should be considered comprehensively. In order to improve the hydrolysis stability and reduce the cost of modification, silane coupling agent can be mixed with trialkyl silane, and for refractory materials, silane coupling agent can be used as a cross-linking polymer.

When silane coupling agents are used as tackifiers, they are mainly realized by forming chemical bonds and hydrogen bonds with polymers, wetting and surface energy effects: improving the crystallinity of polymers, acid-base reactions and the formation of interpenetrating polymer networks. Viscosity enhancement mainly centers on three systems:


(1) inorganic materials to organic materials;


(2) inorganic materials to inorganic materials;


(3) Organic material to organic material.


For the first kind of bonding, inorganic materials are usually required to be bonded to polymers, so the reactivity of Y in silane coupling agent with functional groups in polymers should be given priority: the latter two belong to the bonding between the same type of materials, so the anti-hydrophilic polymer of silane coupling agent itself and the silane coupling agent selected when inorganic materials require tackifying.
